Funding outstanding cultural events: documenta and Berlin Biennial
The documenta in Kassel and the Berlin Biennial are two of the most renowned exhibition series of contemporary art in Germany and are among the many projects funded by the Cultural Foundation in the area of Image and Space.
Every five years the world’s most important exhibition of current artistic positions, the documenta, seismographically measures the development of contemporary art and probes new ways to present it.
As the only biennial of its kind in Germany, the Berlin Biennial is widely regarded as the leading showcase of contemporary art in Germany. Every two years well-known curators present the latest, yet undiscovered or less established artistic positions by up-and-coming young artists.
